Lewis Casserley – Co-Founder & Principal

Lewis drives the strategic direction of Albatross Lending Group, with a current focus on the successful development, positioning, and execution of the newly established SME Lending division. With a background in product structuring, partnership building, and strategic growth, Lewis is committed to creating a relationship-driven, principal-led lending platform that meets the real demands of today’s business landscape.

His work centres on shaping a recognised and trusted SME finance offering, bolstering the team, refining the narrative, and ensuring Albatross delivers the products and responsiveness the market truly wants.

Geoff Cooney – SME Lending Manager

As SME Lending Manager, Geoff plays a pivotal role in supporting brokers and business owners across the UK. With a background as a commercial finance broker himself, he brings first-hand insight into the challenges and pressures of securing the right funding for clients. This experience gives him a deep understanding of how to structure deals that work in the real world with speed, clarity and genuine commercial awareness. His broker-side perspective ensures that our lending process remains pragmatic, responsive and aligned with the needs of the market. Geoff Is committed to maintaining strong relationships and delivering a lending experience that is both efficient and straightforward.

Joshua Field – Head of Credit

Joshua leads the credit function for the SME Lending Division, bringing a wealth of experience in assessing risk and opportunity across commercial lending. He evaluates each opportunity with a balanced, commercially minded perspective, ensuring that funding decisions consider both the immediate needs of the business and its long-term growth potential. Joshua’s approach emphasises sustainability, robust business planning, and forward projections, aligning perfectly with Albatross Lending’s commitment to providing future-focused support.

David Cardoso – Junior Underwriter

David joins the underwriting team with two years of SME lending experience, where he worked closely with entrepreneurs across a range of industries. This background gave him a strong grasp of the challenges business owners face when accessing funding and the need to combine commercial awareness with creative problem-solving, helping structure deals that make sense in the real world. David’s experience has sharpened his ability to assess risk pragmatically while still finding a path to “yes” where others might not.

As an underwriter, my role is to help make commercially sound deals possible – not just to follow a checklist. I take a practical approach to each case, looking beyond just the numbers to understand the full picture and determine how funding can be structured effectively. I aim to deliver solutions that reflect the realities businesses face and ensure the deal works for everyone involved.”
